Function & Order options

The DC monitor is a device designed for the measurement of DC voltage, converting the data into a format compatible with an Vutlan monitoring system. It allows for real-time remote monitoring of DC voltage levels in various applications, such as data centers, industrial automation, and renewable energy systems.

VT410 is an analog sensor plug-and-play sensor and can be connected to any analog port of Vutlan monitoring system.

The maximum amount of VT410 sensors connected to a Vutlan monitoring system and the maximum cable length can be extended using the "VT408 / Sensor extension unit".

Models

VT410 4V: measured voltage 0-4V

VT410 5V: measured voltage 0-5V

VT410 10V: measured voltage 0-10V

VT410 15V: measured voltage 0-15V

VT410 75V: measured voltage 0-75V, the better measurement for low voltages.

The sensor can not be used on its own. It must be used together with Vutlan monitoring systems.

Use cases

Here are some use cases for the VT410 DC monitor:

1. Data Centers

  • Voltage Monitoring: In data centers, the VT410 can continuously monitor the DC voltage supplied to critical equipment like servers and switches. This ensures that equipment operates within safe voltage levels, preventing downtime caused by power issues.

2. Industrial Automation

  • Process Control: In manufacturing environments, the VT410 can measure the DC voltage used by various automated systems and machinery. This data can help optimize processes by ensuring machines receive adequate power for efficient operation.

  • Equipment Health Monitoring: Tracking voltage levels can aid in identifying equipment malfunctions early, allowing for timely maintenance and reducing the risk of costly breakdowns.

3. Renewable Energy Systems

  • Solar Panel Monitoring: The VT410 can monitor the output voltage from solar panels, ensuring that they operate efficiently and produce optimal power levels. This is essential for maximizing energy production.

  • Battery Systems: In energy storage systems, the VT410 helps monitor the DC voltage of batteries, ensuring they remain within safe charging and discharging levels, which is critical for battery health and longevity.

4. Telecommunications

  • Power Supply Monitoring: In telecommunications infrastructure, the VT410 can be used to monitor the DC voltage supplied to critical equipment such as routers and switches. This ensures reliable operation and helps prevent outages due to power failures.

  • Backup Systems: Monitoring the voltage of backup power supplies, such as UPS systems, can help ensure that these systems are functioning correctly and can take over in case of a primary power failure.

5. Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

  • Charging Station Monitoring: The VT410 can be integrated into electric vehicle charging stations to monitor the DC voltage provided to EVs during charging, ensuring efficient and safe charging processes.

  • Fault Detection: Continuous voltage monitoring can help detect faults in the charging process, preventing damage to vehicles and infrastructure.

6. Building Management Systems (BMS)

  • Energy Management: The VT410 can be part of a BMS to monitor DC voltage levels across various building systems (e.g., lighting, HVAC, security systems), helping optimize energy usage and improve efficiency.

  • Load Shedding: In peak load scenarios, monitoring DC voltage can help in load management strategies to prevent overloading circuits and ensuring system stability.

These use cases illustrate the versatility of the VT410 DC monitor across different industries, emphasizing its importance in ensuring safe and efficient operations in various applications.

Installation

Only a 6P6C RJ12 cable can be used with the sensor! The cable is included with the sensor.

1. Connect one end of the shielded 6P6C RJ12 cable to any Vutlan monitoring unit's analog port A1-A8 and the other end to the VT410 / DC Voltage Monitor.

2. Connect "+" and "-" to the 2P terminal.

3. Insert the terminal into VT410.

Example 2: measurement of 48V electric circuit

Configuration

Once VT410 is connected to the analog ports of the Vutlan monitoring system, the monitoring system will automatically sense the current transducer as a sensor. It will appear in: "System tree" >> "Autodetect" >> (abbreviation from Voltage function, used for sensor monitors and converters)

Click on the sensor to open its properties. A modal window with sensor properties will pop up.

1. Change the name of the sensor, for example, "DC Voltage monitor 1".

2. Change the type of the sensor by choosing "Voltage". Choosing any type of sensor does not affect sensor properties, it only changes the sensor icon for the comfort of usage. For this example, the icon will be

3. Use "Expression formula": Each sensor has its own expression formula. It is printed on the case of the sensor. For example:

This current sensor has an expression formula equal to "14.993*(x-0.019)

4. Put in the threshold levels by dragging: Low alarm, Low warning, High warning, High alarm levels.

5. Click “Save” or “Apply” at the bottom of the “Properties” window. The page will reload. Save settings to flash by pressing on
