USB upgrade or restore of default settings

To update the software via USB, first, upload the appropriate driver from our "drivers" section.

Upgrade of the unit

To upgrade to version 2.7.1 and higher:

  1. Download the driver file "firmware.vut" (updates Web Interface) and kernel driver (updates Linux system) file "firmware-kernel.vut" (if available) for USB upgrade.

  2. It is always recommended to update the Kernel first and after this to update the Web Interface.

  3. Copy one of the files to a USB flash drive. Do not change the name "firmware.vut" (or "firmware-kernel.vut" for kernel upgrade) because the processor of the unit is looking for a file with this name.

  4. Follow "Step 4: Using Flash" below

Restore the default IP address or default user

You can download and use a zip file named "tools.zip" with files:

  • settings.vut” - network address changes to 192.168.0.193 (192.168.0.101 for new unit series - VT335i, VT825i, VT855i, VT960i, VT960ii and VT900);

  • resetusers.vut” -  reset to one user: Login: guest / Password: guest

These files provide some service functions if for some reason the web interface of the system has become unavailable. Read the "readme.txt" in the archive for details.

  1. Copy one of the files to a USB flash drive. Do not change the name of the files because the processor of the unit is looking for a file with this name.

  2. Follow "Step 4: Using Flash" below

Restore saved settings

  1. Format the USB Flash Drive in the FAT32 file system.

  2. Copy the settings file to the USB Flash Drive root under the name “settings.vut

  3. Follow "Step 4: Using Flash" below

Step 4: Using USB flash

Insert the USB flash drive into the "HS" USB input (USB0 or USB1 input for VT900 series) and wait while the contents of the drive are analyzed by the device.

On VT900 series system use only one USB flash drive at once.

The updating process is indicated by LEDs on the front panel of the device: file installation is indicated by flashing ERR led. Then all the lights switch off - the device will automatically restart. At this time you must remove the USB flash drive.

Do not restart the device on your own at this moment, this may damage the program and require a full flashing (Restore of the device).

After the reboot, check the system operation.

If an error occurs during the firmware update, the ERR led is constantly on.
