RTSP IP camera (legacy)

Content

Introduction

Only units of the 960i960ii series have the ability to connect an RTSP IP camera starting with firmware version 4.0.1.

RTSP IP cameras use H.264 codec.

To be able to record video from an RTSP IP camera, you will also need to connect an internal SATA HDD, SD card, or USB flash drive.

To create an "RTSP IP camera" element, click on "" In the "System tree" tab. Click on the "RTSP IP Camera".

Name

Camera name in the system.

ID

The ID of the camera element.

URL (IP address)

The URL (IP address) of the camera is required with the protocol type (rtsp://).

In general, the URL of the video stream for IP cameras depends on the manufacturer and model. To determine this URL, please contact the cam manufacturer.

Username

The username, for secure access to the camera with a login and password, may be empty.

Password

Password, for secure access to the camera with a login and password, may be empty.

Proxy URL

The address for direct access to the video stream is displayed here. If the camera and the monitoring unit are not on the same network, you can use a proxy URL.

If the "Username" or "Password" field is empty, then access to the camera will be not secured. If the username and password are set, then access to the camera's live stream is possible in this form: http://<username>:<password>@192.168.0.102/rtspcam_406001

The camera is displayed as an element in the "System tree" and live stream in the "Cameras" tab. The delay in displaying the live video is related to the codec and is about 5 seconds.

For some browsers, you need to start playing live videos by clicking on the "Play" icon.

To be able to save video, you need to connect a SATA HDD (or SD card, or USB flash drive) and allow the log and video to be saved on it. This is done in the tab: Preferences → Logging → HDD.

The settings for the SD card and USB flash drive are made in the same way.

To save the video, you need to create a logic scheme and set the desired video duration. The saved video will start in advance until the logical scheme is set to alarm. The moment the sensor is triggered (in this example, the motion sensor) will be in the middle of the video clip. Thus, you can see what happened before the alarm was triggered and what happened after.

The archive of created videos can be viewed on the contents of the HDD (SD card or USB flash drive): Preferences → Logging → HDD → Contents of the SATA Hard Disk Drive.

If you are sending a video by mail (Sending system logs to e - mail), please be aware that the video file can be quite large and the capabilities of the mail server may be limited.
