VT107 / RFID reader and VT108 / RFID cards
Function and purpose
It is possible to connect up to two readers to one Vutlan monitoring system. Please use a splitter to do this. In such a case both readers are seen by the system as one reader. This is useful when one reader is used for entrance and one reader for the exit of the same door.
MS2 RJ9/RJ11 splitter.
"VT107 / RFID reader" can be used for access control. It operates on a principle of contactless reading data from "VT108 / RFID cards". Each card (transponder) has a unique 40-bit identification number stored permanently (the
number is unique to each card/transponder). The reader sends this number using a 1-wire bus in a format compatible with Vutlan monitoring systems.
Can be used together with all Vutlan monitoring units.
Requires "VT10 / 1-Wire extension" for VT325, VT335, VT335 DC, VT335 S, VT805, VT825, VT825 DC in order to be installed. Only two readers can be connected to one monitoring system. If two readers are installed, they operate as one device.
"VT108 / RFID cards" are purchased separately.
Pinouts
# on reader | Description |
---|---|
1 | VCC ( + ) |
2 | GND ( – ) |
3 | 1-WIRE |
4 | Input Power LED red LED’a |
5 | Not used (red led) |
6 | Green LED (indicates power) |
7 | Button (it includes a bus 1-Wire to ground) |
Dimensions
The hole size for the screws is 4mm in diameter.
Installation
Step 1.
Install and configure the "VT10 / 1-Wire extension" inside the monitoring unit and the web interface.
Step 2.
Drill holes on the mounting surface (e.g. wall). Holes for plastic dowels and for the RJ9 cable to go through.
Insert plastic dowels into drilled holes on the surface.
Carry the RJ9 cable through the drilled hole.
Connected RJ9(4P4C) cable to "VT10 / 1-Wire extension" on the monitoring system. The reader is determined automatically. Once the reader is connected, You should hear a "Beep!" sound.
Place a sticker on the RFID reader.
Configuration
Step 1. Configure Reader. Go to "System tree" >> 1-Wire wire >> iButton >> edit.
Edit the name of the element. For example RFID reader. By default iButton/Reader has a state: not connected.
If "VT108 / RFID card " is used and it is accepted. The Current state changes to "Normal" and then back to "Not connected".
If "VT108 / RFID card " is used and it is not accepted. The Current state changes to "Alarm" and then back to "Not connected".
Step 2. In the system's web interface go to the "Access control" menu.
Step 3. Press the "+" sign to add a new user and their electronic key. A modal window "Add a new key" will open.
Step 4. Press the "Read" button. You will be prompted with a request:
" Please apply your electronic key to the reader. Wait for the system confirmation..."
Step 5. Place the "VT108 / RFID card" of the user next to the front panel of the reader. You will hear a "Beep!" sound from the Vutlan monitoring system.
Step 6. RFID card is now added to the database. Press on the newly added RFID card to edit it.
Step 7. Edit the user name to Your liking.
Step 8. Add more user and their electronic keys to the database.
Usage in logic schemes
By default iButton/Reader has a state: not connected.
If "VT108 / RFID card " is used and it is accepted. The Current state changes to "Normal" and then back to "Not connected".
If "VT108 / RFID card " is used and it is not accepted. The Current state changes to "Alarm" and then back to "Not connected".
Then we can set up a simple logic. For example, we want to activate an electromagnetic lock if the correct RFID card is used. And open the lock using the Exit button using dry contact input. The picture below shows such a logic scheme example.
