Function and purpose
VT572 Radar motion sensor is a high-performance sensor/detector that uses microwave radar technology as a control signal source to detect objects and human movement accurately. The sensor is designed as an energy-efficient, indoor high-sensitivity detector and offers advanced performance for various environments.
The microwave signal can penetrate materials such as plastic, glass, ceilings, wooden doors, and thin walls, making it versatile for installations in concealed or hard-to-reach areas.
It seamlessly connects to any analog port of the Vutlan monitoring unit, offering plug-and-play functionality with event-triggering capabilities via customizable logic schemes.
For larger installations, the number of connected sensors and cable length can be extended using the "VT408 / Sensor extension unit" or “VT408DIN / Extension unit”., allowing for flexible and scalable deployments.
Used for
The microwave radar sensor/detector is used for:
Motion Detection: Ideal for detecting human presence or movement in indoor spaces, making it suitable for security systems, lighting automation, and energy-saving applications.
Object Detection: Can detect objects in environments where the signal needs to penetrate materials like glass, plastic, or thin walls, making it perfect for concealed installation in office buildings, homes, or warehouses.
Energy-Saving Automation: Commonly used in systems that turn on/off lights, ventilation, or heating/cooling systems based on the presence of people or objects.
The sensor is highly flexible and can be extended for larger setups using VT408 or VT408DIN extension units, allowing for more comprehensive monitoring across multiple zones.
Microwave radar vs PIR
Why Microwave motion sensor? With a quick response time and higher accuracy than PIR, The scanned signal can penetrate plastic, glass, ceiling, wooden doors, and thin walls. This microwave motion sensor reflects the latest developments in motion detection technology.
Example: Air-conditioning can be a problem for PIR sensors, especially in rooms adapted for server rooms, where violent gusts of air activate sensors. That is why using microwave radar detectors makes sense.
Connecting the unit
The sensor can be connected to the system's available analog ports. See the picture below.
The sensor can be connected to the “VT408 / Extension unit”. See the picture below.

Installation
The sensor parts are:
RJ connector for connecting the sensor to the Vutlan monitoring unit or to the “VT408 / Extension unit” or to the “VT408DIN / Extension unit”.
A slot for mounting a ball holder for mounting onto the wall. The ball holder can be connected to the wall holder.
Wall mounting holder. It can be connected to the ball holder.
A side view of the sensor in full assembly.
A window from where the sensor is sending and receiving the signals.
Step 1. Mount the wall holder to the wall using supplied dowels and screws. The advised mounting height is 3 meters.
Step 2. Use the RJ11/RJ12 6P4C cable and connect the sensor to the Vutlan monitoring unit or to the “VT408 / Extension unit” or to the “VT408DIN / Extension unit”. The sensor is “plug-and-play” and should appear in the system automatically and quickly.
Step 3. Mount the ball holder onto the sensor as shown in the picture below.
