From the picture above:

1. Operation LEDs:

  • WHITE LED

...

  • - the sensor is ready for operation, blinks every few seconds, Normal Mode;

  • RED LED - alarm indication, Alarm Mode;

2. CAN bus ports (numeration does not matter, any port can be used for either side)

3. Configuration LEDs:

  • Red LED - the sensor is connected to the system;

  • Blue LED - the CAN configuration started;

3. Temperature & humidity sensor

4. Termination switch (Termination should be “ON” if the sensor is the last sensor in a CAN bus chain.)

Info

The sensor can not be used on its own. It must be used together with Vutlan monitoring systems.

Installation procedure

Notes on assembly

...

  • Uncover the smoke detector head from the base.

  • Attach the smoke sensor base to the mounting plate using the M4 x 10 screws provided.

  • Replace the sensor head onto the base and secure it by twisting it until it locks home.

  • Secure the mounting plate to the enclosure frame using the 4.8 x 19 screws.

  • Remove the red protective cap

Connecting sensor

Connect one end of the RJ11 / RJ12 cable to the monitoring unit CAN port and the other end to any CAN input of the smoke sensor. It is possible to connect up to 10 sensors to one CAN port. To do so connect a new RJ11 cable to a free input of an already connected smoke sensor and the other end to the next smoke sensor in a chain. See the picture below. RJ11 or RJ12 cable pinouts can be found in the picture below. After the system starts, configure the CAN bus, after configuration, the LED on the smoke detector will blink dimly once a second.

a) The last sensor in the CAN bus chain connection should have a Termination switch in the “ON” position.

b) All other sensors should have the Termination switch in the “OFF” position.

Testing the smoke sensors

During system operation, take a needle or paper clip and insert it into the hole on the cover of the sensor, try to move it there until the blinking dimly LED flashes brightly. That means that the sensor is in a good state. After inspection, return the sensor /s to a normal state. To do this, either disconnect them from the system, or in a system interface, go to the smoke sensors tab, and restart them.

Configure the sensor

In the current example, we will connect x2 VT460 sensors connected in a chain. Once connected, Configuration Red LEDs at the back of the sensors will light up.

After connecting the sensor to the CAN bus chain go to Vutlan Web Interface >> “CAN configuration” panel >> press “Configure” >> “Are you sure you want to start CAN configuration” press “Yes” >> you should see the following

...

Once the sensors are configured, they will appear in the window. Configuration Blue LED at the back of the sensors should light up.

You should see both VT460 sensors in the CAN configuration panel.

...

The Operation White LEDs at the front of the sensor will blink every few seconds. This means the sensor is ready for usage.

Testing the sensor

You can use PRF Alarm tester spray:

...

Spray PRF Alarm tester onto the sensor. The sensor will switch to Alarm mode and the Operation RED LED will light up on the front of the sensor.

After a while, depending on how much you sprayed, the sensor will automatically return to Normal mode.

False alarms

Avoid high-frequency noise and the impact of dust on the sensor, the noise and dust cause false alarms.
