Add a new LoRaWAN sensor
To add Vutlan’s LoRaWAN-compatible sensors, you need to use Vutlan’s gateway: LR800 Gateway & Server.
Third-party sensors can be added via the web interface. Vutlan requires documentation for the third-party sensor to integrate it into the system. In the future, we'll add a more universal sensor-add-on system.
Currently, third-party gateways are not supported. We are actively working on this, and the feature will be available soon.
1. To add a new sensor to the system, open LoRaWAN tab in Vutlan’s Web UI
2. Click a plus sign + at the top right:
3. In the modal window that appears, select a supported sensor type from the list:
Type description - contains a brief description of the sensor's functions. Then click Next >.
4. Enter the base parameters - the desired name and optional description.
DevEUI and AppKey - these key parameters are usually listed on the sensor packaging.
Do not disclose the DevEUI and AppKey to unauthorized parties.
Make sure you do not lose the DevEUI and AppKey. Write them down or store them in a safe place.
5. Set additional sensor parameters - time parameters for sensor operation, activation of alarms, and enabling confirmations for data exchange packets.
Lost time is available for all sensors. This time indicates how long it takes for a sensor to be considered lost in the network if it hasn't sent any messages. When set to Automatically, a sensor is considered lost if more than three sessions (uplink time) have been missed.
The remaining parameters are only available for Vutlan sensors and depend on the sensor type. Details can be found in the descriptions of the corresponding sensors.
Uplink time - determines the time period of sensor communication; the battery life depends on this the most.
Rejoin time - time determines the moment of reconnection of the sensor to the LoRaWAN network if the sensor does not receive messages from the base station (for example, due to desynchronization);
Alarm 'xxx' enable - enables or disables the corresponding type of alarm;
Confirm alarm enable - enables the transmission of alarm messages from the sensor (downlink) with confirmation, which increases the session duration and battery consumption;
Confirm other enable - enables the transmission of all other messages from the sensor (downlink) with confirmation, which increases the session duration and battery consumption.
6. Check the entered parameters and click Save.
After this, turn on the sensor by inserting battery/batteries or reset it if it has a reset button.
