Connecting LoRaWAN Sensors

Connecting LoRaWAN Sensors

This section includes the following articles:

Before connecting the sensors, make sure the system has started correctly. The log should show no LoRaWAN system errors.
If the system has started, the log will show the message "LoRaWAN: system run successfully."

Connecting sensors is done in the LoRaWAN menu tab.
When sensors is connected, the table with the summary parameters looks like this:

This displays some useful sensor parameters that are not presented as separate control elements:

  • Sensor name - the name and description of the sensor specified by the user are displayed here; this field is available for modification;

  • Type - the sensor type is specified here; the sensor is created with a specified type and the type cannot be changed;

  • Battery - the battery charge level and measured battery voltage (if the sensor supports this) are indicated. This estimate is approximate and cannot take into account, for example, the quality of the batteries themselves or their operating conditions. Be careful to replace batteries promptly.

  • Margin - characterizes the sensor signal level;

  • Last seen at - the time when the sensor was last online and conducted a normal transaction with the base system;

  • Status - describes the current state of the sensor, the following options are possible:

    • not activated - the sensor has been added to the system by the user, but has not yet been powered up and has not yet been activated;

    • activated - the sensor is going through the activation procedure;

    • work - the sensor works fine;

    • broken - the sensor has configuration problems in the system files, perhaps the files are corrupted or the sensor is not fully configured;

    • lost - the sensor was lost because there were no messages from it for a long time.

  • Actions - here you can delete the sensor entry from the system memory.

When a sensor is successfully connected to the base system, the measured sensor parameters are available as elements in the "System tree" menu tab. These elements are grouped into a module named after the sensor.
These elements can be used for automation in logic schemes, for collecting data in a log, for sending values via notifications, and more.
If a sensor is lost, its elements become "Not connected" state.
