Physical description VT406

Function

Simple open loop DC current transducer HOS-100Q1 can measure DC currents in the range of 0-100A. To transfer data to the Vutlan monitoring system it can be used together with the VT406 / DC current transceiver.

Components

The transducer consists of a plastic housing with an open/closed DC current loop and a 4-pin terminal connector. The current transceiver is a simple plastic case with 4 pins input, power 12V socket, and analog 0-5V RJ12 output.

Safety instructions

Siting location requirements

To ensure proper functionality, the conditions specified in the section “Technical specifications” must be observed.

Installation procedure

Notes on assembly

Installation

The transducer and the transceiver are installed together.

Connection

Connect one end of the RJ11 / RJ12 cable to the monitoring unit and the other end to the analog output of the transceiver. Connect the transceiver to the power adapter 12V. Connect the transceiver and transducer with the Connecting cable. The monitoring system will automatically sense the current transducer as a sensor.

The new sensor will appear in the web interface of the system. Click on the "System tree" menu and you will find a new sensor marked by an icon (abbreviation from Voltage function, used for sensor monitors and converters). Click on the sensor to open its properties.

A modal window with sensor properties will pop up.

  1. Change the type of the sensor by choosing "Current". Choosing any type of sensor does not affect sensor properties, it only changes the sensor icons for the comfort of usage.

  2. Change the name of the sensor, for example, "Current".

  3. Use the "Expression formula", in the case of VT406 if the initial current is I=0 then output V=~2.5V, full scale is 5V, with use of sensor HOS-100 100A=5V and -100A=0V, that means B= -2.5V, K=40. Expr= 40*(x-2.5) or 40*x -100.

  4. Put in the threshold levels by dragging: Low alarm, Low warning, High warning, High alarm levels.

For example, the graph above shows that the state of the sensor at the moment is "Normal" because 20.4 is between "Low warning" and "High warning" states, which is considered a "Normal" state.

  5. Click “Save” or “Apply” at the bottom of the “Properties” window. The page will reload and the sensor will update by changing its icon type to

    (abbreviation from "Ampers").

Manipulating transducers

Do not tweak the transducer's variable resistors. They are tweaked by the manufacturer for optimal measurement. Tweaking these may result in incorrect measurements.
