What type of SD card can be used?

For units VT325, VT335, VT336, VT604/608, VT805/825 family, the following cards must be used: SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) memory cards up to and inclusive 32Gb. All cards which are more than 32Gb will not work. Cards that are not HC will not work. We strongly recommend using SD cards above or equal "Speed class 10".

For modern units VT335i, VT825i, VT855i, VT960i family, the following cards must be used: SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) or SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) memory cards up to and inclusive 512Gb.

Saving system logs to SD card

The monitoring unit uses SDHC and SDXC (on modern families) cards to record changes in logs, sensor data, and configuration elements. 4/8/16/32 Gb SDHC and 64 Gb SDXC (on modern families) cards can be used in a system. 

Formatting the SD card in FAT32 can be done from the web interface of the unit. Do not forget that when formatting, all data on the SD card will be deleted. Formatting uses the entire available capacity of the SD card.

For VT960i units, after formatting, reboot the system so that the card is correctly connected. In other cases, use the "Refresh" button to make sure that the card is correctly formatted and connected.

If you remove the SD card without unmounting, data loss is possible!

The files are written to a directory with the name formed from the name of the device type (for example, VT325) and the value of the Network→Hostname field, and has the form VT325-DeviceName. If the name is not specified by the user (by default, hostname), then the IP address of the device is used to form the directory name, and the name has the form VT325-192.168.0.193. Inside this directory, create a directory for the log files (log), video files (video), sensors dump files (sensors), and log archive files (archive). The files are named based on their creation time, and 2016.11.17_16-37-43.log. At the beginning of the log file, upon creation, service information like the device type, software version, IP address, etc is stored. Log files are written in text form.  Sensors dump files are recorded in a text table format CSV. The CSV format is supported by many office and engineering programs, including Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice, LabVIEW, etc.

Log files are recorded during the day and are closed at 00:00 by device time. If the device reboots, then new files are created.

Often asked questions

How many logs can I write to an SD card?

You need to specify for example that one log file will include 24 hours (maximum length).

You can make up to 10.000 log files. This means You can record up to 10.000 days = 27 years. Of course, You are limited by the size of the SD card = 32Gb.

The size of each file depends on how many logs will be written each day. It may be 1 log a day or hundreds of logs a day.


What are the limitations on archiving parameters (for graphing), how to calculate the maximum storage time depending on the number of parameters monitored?

Sensor data is written to files as well as log messages. Up to 10 sensors. The maximum frequency of polling sensors is 1 time per second. For some sensors this is redundant - CAN sensors are updated 1 time in 10 seconds.
